Spanish Atlantic Islands Natural Monument
The islands of Galicia Cies, Ons, Salvadora and courted, called up the National Park of the Atlantic Islands located in the Autonomous Community of Galicia. It is a beautiful marine ecosystem – land, in which space holds a great biodiversity, among which are yellow-legged gulls and cormorant, on the seabed are a variety of fish, shellfish, plus several dolphin species. For its great biodiversity of these islands were declared in the year 1980 as a Natural Park.

Emergen majestic on the ocean with its high cliffs and turning the landscape of rare beauty, a place to discover the mysteries and legends of the Atlantic. In this place could be found more than 200 varieties of seaweed among which live in large numbers of different varieties of marine species that make up the marine ecosystem also can appreciate the ecosystems of beaches, dunes formed by Sitemas Atlantic coastal scrub and subatlánticos.
The Atlantic Islands are distinct geographic units and each has different characteristics. The conservation of the islands is good but there is always an underlying concern that this looks natural ecosystem damaged by human activities such as oil pollution or over-exploitation of fishery resources, hence the importance of constant vigilance the institutions to ensure compliance with existing regulations.

The massive presence of tourists is another factor that is trying to control with protective measures, such as making meshes around the dune systems in order to avoid deterioration of this fragile ecosystem ireversible. Recently the Atlantic Islands have been chosen as the best natural monument of Spain, through the Telecinco website where nearly two million votes to emerge as such.
Galicia is proud with this award because it recognizes the beauty and richness of its natural heritage and the beautiful beach itself Cathedrals was also chosen as the third favorite spot for tourists. It is noteworthy that the Cies and Ons islands are the most visited of the Atlantic Islands.
